Is the wrist strap for my Canon SD400 strong enough to clip it onto a lanyard?

I want to hang my camera on a lanyard around my neck. I’d like to be able to detach it. So I was thinking of just using the standard wrist strap that comes with the camera (which has served me well) and clipping it onto a neck lanyard. Do you think that the wrist strap is strong enough to take that? I’m worried about the little loop and the fitting more that the wrist cord.

Don’t use the lanyard and don’t take the risk of dropping a very expensive camera. Just use the standard strap that came with the camera.
